The 2016 Mercedes AMG GT is a 2 seat, 2 door sports coupe made by Mercedes-AMG. The first AMG Coupe was introduced in 2014 and is said to feature one of the fastest engines ever produced for any race car model. Its predecessor is Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG.
2016 Mercedes AMG GT Changes, Exterior
The body kit is very muscular, with fine line and accents. The hood for the new AMG GT coupe is very long whereas the boot is shorter and a little pushed in. A diamond pattern front grille, a thin air dam under the grille makes the apron, and air intakes are mounted on the sides further complete the front. Out back, thin extended tail lights assist the muscular bumper. There are large exhaust pipes fixed on the rear, giving the car a very sturdy looking rear end. The greenhouse is also stretched out in a concave shape. The 20 inch alloy wheels embody R20 performance tires. The wheelbase for the new AMG GT is 103.5 inches. The length is 179 inches, whereas the width and height are 76.3 inches and 50.7 inches respectively.
The new Mercedes AMG GT interior is based on a jet plane cockpit theme. The aviation impression is further strengthened by concave door panels, wing shaped dashboard and circular air conditioning vents. The centre console is taller and the seats are lower than usual which further elevates the feeling. The centre console is uniquely designed in a V shaped format with 8 AMG drive units arranged along its edges. Most of the interior materials are either aluminum or carbon fibers, whereas the fabrics are available in black red combinations with red contrast stitches. The instrument panel features a Burmester radio system, USB connection, a video monitor and a DVD player.
2016 Mercedes AMG GT 0-60, Engine
The new Mercedes AMG GT 2016 is equipped with a 4.0 liter Double Overhead Cam V8 direct fuel inject engine can deliver 456 horsepower at 6000 rpm and generate a torque of 443 pound-feet at 1600 rpm. The engine can accelerate from 0-60 mph in just 3.9 seconds while the maximum speed for it is 189 mph. The engine’s maximum displacement is recorded to be around 3982 cc. The other version of the GT standard is GT S, which generates 503 hp and 479 lb.ft of torque, its top speed is 192 mph and it takes 3.7 seconds to hit 60.
The 2016 Mercedes AMG GT price is not small and for this sporty coupe is $129,900 and it will be available for sale in the spring of 2015. The coupe has a strong engine, a lighter chassis and great fuel economy all available in one classy car and will be the centre of attention for many sports car lovers.
