The 2016 Honda Pilot is the newest upgrade to the mid-sized SUVs that was first introduced in 2002 by Honda. The 2016’s model will mark the start of the third generation of Honda Pilot SUVs.
2016 Honda Pilot Changes, Exterior
The new Honda Pilot exterior is a little curvaceous and a bit toned down than its boxy 2015 predecessor, offering narrower windows and a slightly slacked off roof line. The exterior body kit is designed to reduce noise, vibration and harshness from the engine.Many new features are offered like a panoramic sunroof and a reversible cargo lid which helps keep dirty or wet baggage from soiling the carpeting. Other optional add-ons for the exterior would be LED headlights and tail-lights with auto high/low beam switch, daytime running LED headlamps. New Honda Pilot wheelbase is 110.9 inches and its length was stretched out 3.5 inches making it 194.9 inches in total while its width and height remained at 78.5 and 72.7 inches respectively.
2016 Honda Pilot Interior
Honda has added many new gizmos and gadgets to its interior. Many upgrades have also been made to make it homier and comfortable, while also keeping the passenger’s safety in mind. The Honda Pilot 2016 features a “tech locker” for your phones and tablets in the center console, which is big enough to hold a purse. 5 USB ports have been added; out of which 4 have 2.5 amps of charging ability. Honda has also made a new 7-passenger seating configuration, in which a new one-touch fold system is added to the second row for easier entry to the rear seats. Heated seats and ventilated front seats have been features. Captain’s chair feature is optional choice for the second row as well.
Honda Pilot engine is equipped with a 3.5 litre direct inject V6 options, connected with a 6 speed automatic transmission or an optional ZF 9 speed automatic start-stop transmission. Details regarding the horsepower and torque have not been announced by Honda but surely the 2016 engine will generate around 290-300 horsepower and 267 lb.ft. of torque as it has the same engine which is featured in the MDX. The power-train is also equipped with a variable cylinder management mechanism which will switch from 3 and 6 cylinder modes depending on the cargo and load the crossover SUV has to carry. The model will be available in front wheel drive standard and all wheel drive optional format.
Many safety features like Honda’s passenger mirror lane-watch camera, lane departure warning, lane assist system, forward-collision warning with collision mitigation brake system, adaptive cruise control, backup cameras and rear cross traffic control systems have been added to make Pilot a more safer SUV to drive around in.
This model is expected to go on sale in summer this year as a 2016 year model. The 2016 Honda Pilot price will be slightly higher than 37 thousand dollars (2015 Pilot’s price).Even though new Honda Pilot 2016 does not offer hybrid options, its improved V6 engine and all new 9 speed transmission backed up by state-of-the-art safety features will give you better mileage and a more comfortable drive than you could have ever hoped of from this crossover SUV.
